I spoke with Denny today on getting a Wild/True street class added to the July 2nd FunFord Day....I'm gonna use the NMRA Wildstreet rules to keep everything simple with the exception of tires(Dragradials only) Which means( BFG's, M/T's Nitto's, Toyo's) No other tire will be allowed in this class....It will be tech(Me) for the Wild street guys..

Rules:

30-MILE CRUISE

An escort will supervise the cruise in accordance with local laws and ordinances. Each competitor and crew will be on their own reconnaissance during the escort and cruise and bear the full responsibility of their actions as they would on city streets. Please be safe and follow all traffic laws during the cruise.

SUPPORT VEHICLES
Support vehicles (i.e., tow vehicles, crew, etc.) are permitted optionally on the road tour, but must trail behind the Wild Street participants, and the escort, at all times. All support vehicles are on their own reconnaissance and must obey all applicable local safety and traffic laws.

DISQUALIFICATION/COMPLETION
Cruise is mandatory in the time allotted for competition. Any vehicle unable to complete the road tour under its on power, within the allotted time, will be disqualified from racing. Any vehicle that falls behind the trailing escort will be disqualified.

COOLDOWN PERIOD/RETURN PROCEDURES
After the vehicles return from the road tour, they will return directly to the designated staging lanes for the cool-down period. They may not change tires. The cool-down period will typically last between 15 and 30 minutes. During this cool down period only, entrants may adjust tire pressure (add or remove tire pressure), install fresh nitrous bottles, install ice in their intercooler (only if located in trunk, rear hatch or rear seat area), and re-fuel only. A strict CLOSED HOOD policy will be in effect until a competitor has completed his or her three back-to-back passes. Engines must remain turned off during entire cool-down period. External cooling of engine by any means (cold water, outdoor fans, etc.) prohibited. Any engine changes, repairs, or adjustments (changing rocker arms, carburetor adjustments, etc.) prohibited. Changing of tires prohibited. No laptops in vehicle permitted at any time once the first of the three back-to-back passes is initiated.

RACE FORMAT
When called to “load up” in the staging lanes, all Wild Street competitors must report to their cars and prepare to make three back-to-back quarter mile passes. All hoods and deck lids must remain secured, as they must remain closed until completion of all three passes. Vehicles with air-to-water intercoolers may not add ice to intercooler tank between back-to-back passes, even if intercooler tank is located in interior of vehicle.

FINAL STANDINGS
After all three quarter mile passes are completed, each racer’s ET will be added and the average of these three passes will be computed. The outcome of the 3-run average will be posted Sunday morning, and the awards presentation will be held Sunday. On a qualifying run, if a contestant properly starts, stages and receives the starter’s signal but breaks to the point the run is not completed, a time of 28 seconds is issued and it is considered a valid qualifying run.

CREW MEMBERS
Crew members are not permitted around participating vehicles, in the staging lanes, or in the burnout area, between rounds of competition.

BACK-to-BACK PASSES
Tire pressure may be checked in the staging lanes, or between rounds, and may be lowered. Air may not be added to tires any time during the back-to-back passes. Vehicles are required to make three full passes in order to be included in the final average ET tally. All vehicles must run three passes in the same order as the first pass, any attempt to gain additional cool down time between rounds will result in disqualification. The only possible exception to this rule is the use of a parachute, if required by vehicle speed. One crew member can be placed in the staging lanes to aid in the re-packing of a parachute, however, chute must be re-packed in a manner so as not to be disruptive to competition rounds. There will be a separate staging lane designated for any vehicle needing to re-pack parachutes. Any vehicle unable to start under it’s own power will be disqualified. Once all rounds have been completed, prize money and awards will be given based on the final average of all three quarter mile passes. During, and in between, the back to back passes, no changes may be made to vehicle other than lowering air pressure in tires. Fresh nitrous bottles, fuel, and ice may not be installed/replenished. Vehicles with air-to-water intercoolers may not add ice to intercooler tank between back-to-back passes, even if intercooler tank is located in interior of vehicle.

WEIGHT BREAKS
There is no minimum weight.

CLASS & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
It is the participant’s responsibility to familiarize oneself with the class requirements as found in the 2006 NMRA rulebook and the safety requirements as found in the 2006 NHRA rulebook. The participant agrees that the participant bears the ultimate responsibility at all times to ensure the safety of participant’s vehicle and to ensure that participant complies with all applicable NHRA & NMRA rules. The participant agrees that participant is in the best position to know about the construction and operation of participant’s vehicle, equipment, and clothing, and whether there has been compliance with all applicable NHRA & NMRA rules.

Now here is something I might actually cage up for. How long is the cool down after the cruise? I would have to so some testing on my IC setup.

Darren: sounds similar to the old pump gas drags. I think it would be fun to compete in an event like that. However, why limit it just to Fords on ford day at the track? I think you'd have a lot of other interested participants (like myself) if it was open to everyone.

how are they going to measure the tire width?
thread?
sidewall?
325mm = 12" tire
the max should be set at 275 that's a 10" tire

your tire section would allow et streets/quick time pros?
they are both dot approved.

why no laptops?
some people need them to read the datalogging and tune the efi cars.
this is done without opening the hood/hatch.

just wondering about some of the rules

325 mm is the section width of the tire measured at the "bulges" or sidewalls. a 325 measures about 11" and a 275 is usually a tick under 9" at the tread.

1....No labtops after your 1st of 3 passes..You better do all your tuning before you make your 1st pass down the 1/4 or you'll be DNQ'd....

2..Only a Dragradial tire will be allowed( PERIOD)...I removed that from the rules...No other "Sticky" Tires.

3..Tire size...Most guys won't run a tire this big so i'll know what to look for (Tire size wise)

275-60=8.9" tread width
275-50=10" tread width
325-50=11" tread width
315-60=11" tread width
295-65=10" tread width

10.6" is the rule
no triing to push buttons just don't want someone turned away from running this class.

ps.i have seen people complain about that small off a differance.

If i can get get 10 cars that would be great. But i know it would be more because i know alot of guys with street "Type" cars that fit this class that would not like to just bracket race and maybe not quick enough for the heads-up class....This should be a nice turn out i hope...If you know of any shop's that might want to sponsor this class please let me know and we'll see what we can do.

Darrin, I am involved in a shop that may want to do a little sponsoring this year. I will talk to the big guy and see what's what. What are you looking for from a sponsor? We might be willing to do a little prize money plus a brand contigency for anything we are a dealer of ie UPR, LFP, SCT... or something like that? All we would request is a good spot to set up a booth at so we can promote ourselves as well.

No, it's just kind if annoying to come here and see threads about the same event 5 times in a row that have nothing to do with the SCC. Is there a law against me deleting every single one of them?? :scared:
