icon, i used a clump of pla-doh on top of the piston and bolted head down with no gasket(to get closest possible to piston) then i unbolted the head and carefully removed pla-doh and laid out on bench and let it dry up and it was hard enough to mic out with a micrometer :yup:
hope this can help ya
pk thanks for the info.
but i'm asking how to measure for the valve itself.

to check the proper valve length you will need a valve spring height mic and you need to know what yer valve spring installed height should be.
Correct valve lenght is determined by the cam profile/ lift/valve spring installed height.
Call me if needed :)

:scared: nice head, don't they make a manley valve for that head, for use with pistons like ross, j e, or probe, hell i even think, for trw as well, i dont know alot about that head, but i wouldn't think it should be too hard to find the right valve for those heads :dunno:
sorry wish i could help more, just i don't know
