are you talking about the 3" wide mouldings on the side of doors?
is the pin striping on the moulding painted on or a sticker?

You have to take the molding off.Make sure you have someone do it that knows what they are doing. Most of the time the molding is not able to be reused. There is a band of steele that is with the molding thats bends up 80% of the time
Good call on being carefull, I had one that was peeling away from the door already.. that would explain why it was so stubborn trying make it stick again. next question, what is a good adhesive to use to get that stuff to hold agian.

Call a body shop and ask them,im sure they will help you out alot.I do know the moldings need to be preped different. And I think they could be done while on the car, just easier off the car. Most guys use a heat gun,but like I said you got to know what your doin:yup:

most people that take them off, leave them off
it looks just as good without them and hardly noticable
look in the magazines closely and you will see what i'm talkin about

The easiest way I have found to remove them
is ,Get a 4 or 5 inch paint scraper ,Start at the top corner
& let the scraper do the work.DO NOT PRY THE MOLDING.
IT DOES NOT LIKE THAT.Once I get the scraper in there I spray
3M Stripe Remover in there & it helps loosen up the glue.
Remember that its not just one big piece of tape,Its two,
one on top & one on the bottom,On the bottom one push the
scraper up,The 3M stripe remover that you sprayed on the top
will work its way down & help you out.
I also use 3M foam double sided tape to replace it.
Treat it like its a BOMB & you'll be all good.LOL!!!!
If you mess something up give me a call,I think I still
have a few early 83 - 86 & 87-93 moldings sitting around
here somewhere.
Hope this helps
