I deleted it:yup: For the simple fact that it was just wrong. If that is how he feels then he should go somewhere else. The whole rock issue is a kick right in my balls. See here is something you Internet bandits don't NO! I myself went out and bought a goddamn bobcat with a broom to clean the track with! MY MONEY...... Not the tracks money. MY MONEY. Another thing a lot of people don't understand is track TEMP. 135 is bad PERIOD. I spent 2 hours running water on the track to cool it down before we started racing.
If there is anyone on this site or in the country that can keep rubber on a track with 135 degree surface temp and 200 street tire cars going down it then I want to meet them. It doesn't work that way.
I am tired of hearing the bullshit.
There are only a handful of people that continue to make the problems and if they would just go away that would be great:yup:

On top of the track temp you will NEVER get the track perfect due to the amount of treaded street tire cars at SCC, that is something people are just going to have to realize. Terre Haute had some of the best track prep next to RT.66 in the past few years & they still had there bad days. I think the track prep for the last year at US41 has been damn good. I wasnt there but a buddy was that ran his best 60' time ever. It is a 10 second car but said the track was good for him.

AMEN DENNY!!!!!!!!
It is always a hand full of people fucking it up for everyone else but you have to deal with that like all the other people out racing.
The best was the guy in the grey and black 71 Chevelle doing burn outs all the way to the line and still spinning them on the line waiting for the tree to come down lots of bare concret in the left lane because of him.
First and formost though is that Denny has revamped this track and it is just as good as it was in the early 90's and we all still have a great track with great people to go to and race safely.

Denny, I had no problem with the way the track was last night. Like it's been said, with as many street tired cars that were there ripping the rubber up, I think it was doing pretty damn good. I missed the original post, but don't let the shit get to ya. We appreciate what is here and for you giving us the venue to act like we're still eighteen and have some good old fashioned fun!

Denny,
Im not so much worried about the track conditions as I am the other problems. Mainly the spectators parking in the racers pit area and the kids on motorized bikes, bicycles, skateboards, etc. Maybe the clientle for SCC is different than TOP GUN, but I really would hate to fight the same problems next weekend as some did last night.
Is there another gate to the south of the main gate where the spectators could come in?

I dont think the clientle is different....you just get more race only cars and trailers at the Top Gun races!

The spectators parking in the pits IS a problem that should be fixed. when you come back to your pit (that you left work early to get) after a pass & somebody parks their peice a shit in your spot while they go sit their ass in the stands it is a problem. each car coming in the track should get 1 of 2 types of dash ticket of some sort...1 you park south of the bathroms & the other north of the bathrooms, if your not in the right spot you get towed. An orange snow fence along the south side of the east west road to divide the pits/spectator parking would help too cars could be directed in & not beable to exit into the pits. Denny surely you didnt put up the new lights in the pits for spectators to park under? The cars just crusing doing laps around the pits & have no interest in making a pass needs to stop...the place is too congested as it is. Kids on bikes, golfcarts & 4 wheelers have no bussiness in the pits...too many nice cars to get damaged, I cant beleive there hasnt been a problem as of yet. denny I know you dont spend much time in the pits anymore but it has gotten worse this year than in the past. Maybe try to do something with the spectaors cars & your hired security could enforce the other problems. I know there are a LOT of cars/people but it could be improved.

I Agree with Jason 100% on this. The track conditions are a mute point at the TOP GUN races due to the fact that both cars will be fighting the same situations if the lanes are equal.
I remember comming to the IHRA National event right after it opened and I had to park south of the bathrooms. I thought there was a second gate, but its been over 10 years ago and I know that brain cell is long gone. Why do the spectators need to park in the racers pits anyways?

Brandon I agree but you cant expect SCC to have a good track, majority of the cars are street driven daily drivers which is basicly what the event is for. NHRA tracks have a street car night & its the same deal. When I go to SCC I dont go expecting the track to be in prime condition. Most of the time it is decent on SCC nights & pretty damn good at ther times. as for the pit situation..I expect it to be a lil crazy at times but the last SCC was pretty wild & it sounds like it was again last night.
I agree, I really don't think your thread should have been removed...you are definitely entitled to your own opinion and should be able to speak your mind. I think Denny should have just responded to your post rather then removing it all together. :dunno: But I guess he and the crew did do alot of of prep work and he even talked to me a little about it when I spoke to him.....about the track temp and trying to cool it down and all that. I guess the post just made him mad knowing that he tried his best to get the track working for everyone. A buddy of mine is the one who spun out and hit the wall on the top end....messed up his car pretty bad, but he wasn't hurt. The car looked like it just slipped out from under him. They were in the process of trying to get the rear suspension problems worked out...feel really bad for him about his car. :(

I watched quite a bit of racing last night and you wouldn't believe how many people I seen with street tires on their cars burning out over the line and stupid shit like that. But each time I seen them do this, they were told by the workers at the line not to do it again. And when you get this many cars with street tires, the track is bound to turn to shit sooner or later.

WHO ARE YOU REFERRING TO ??? I simply stated my opinion.
You said you were going to take care of the spectator / parking problem AND the kids riding around the bikes and 4 wheelers a long time ago - it has only become worse. Why cant the spectators coming through the gate be diverted into the field to park. - like it once was???
Wristbands should only be for crew and drivers =- PERIOD We dont need people who paid $5 for a wristband to be milling through the staging lanes with unattended cars
The track was not working. Was it the temperature? I dont know, seems to me 41 has worked on hotter days before.
For christs sakes, there was someone set up in the pits selling shoes, whats next? Maybe you should rent the track out on off days and have a fleamarket.
Yeah, I stated that I was not going to any more SCC events. Thats my choice, and I'm sure you dont need the $80 from me and my crew.
I havent started any shit on this board, especially to knock you or 41 as a whole. I dont think this post represents it either. These are the facts.

Counter point....
We all know what SCC is and how it is....
Ever hung out at a burger joint to find a street race?
Ever notice all the dickheads trying to get the police to visit?
Doing burnouts in the parking lot, throwing shit on the ground, fighting, Drinking.... Anyone ever notice this, or is it just me?
Guess what crowd goes to SCC... The 15-20 of us from the board do not make up a fraction of the people at SCC...
Ever try and get off a street race and have 100 cars parked on the sides of the street that are ahead of the starting line....
I am not a fan of these people, but it is no different than the street....
A bad track is still better than a good street..... (Not that our car had any problems, but it is a Street Car as well)
Am I looking to bring my Camaro out for SCC action.... Not really.... I have and may again, but I know it is not the place for this car....

I got to agree on some points:yup: The parking, kids w/bikes,and alcohol are all bad ideas.Sometimes it takes a serious situation to get a point across, and thats a sad thought. This event has changed from the origional chaos, and I do agree something needs to be done before something bad happens.Come on guys think about it.The 15thousand dollars made from the sale of alcohol could be obsolete with one person sewing because their child got ran over on there bike by a drunk 10sec racer,or 18sec racer for that matter:think: If they werent drinking it might not have happened,if the kid wasnt allowed to ride a bike it would not have happened.Thats all that is needed for the public to get involved and close the place down:pissed: Just a thought:cool:

I have been keeping quite because I haven't raced yet this year. But the way things seem to be going, I don't know if I want to. There was all kinds of 'chaos' at the first TopGun and now all of this. It just sounds like a bunch of crap to me. If you don't like all of the 'street cars' and 'Chaos' then don't go to 'Street Car Chaos':dunno: You sure wouldn't go to Don Pedros if you didn't like Mexican food right? Maybe a solution could be a couple Chaos nights for race cars only or for cars with slicks only for all of you who are afraid to call your car a race car.

i didn't have a car there, but i did see alot of cars hooking up very good, and some had to be well in the 8's:think: so i personally think, "it works for some and doesn't work for others" that seems the way it is at any track!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!! and the issue with the non-race cars in the pits, yes i feel is an issue and am sure it is going to be delt with, come on guys, Denny is trying his ass off to make this the best track around this area, i see a whole lot of improvements and if some open thier eyes they too should be able to see the improvements!!!!!!! I'm not going against anyones comments by no means, everyone has their own opinions, but you think maybe you would get better results to maybe p.m. denny with your concerns, instead of posting them on here so the whole country thinks the track is no good at all:dunno: but the cars in the pit area could easily be more of a problem than what people may realize here, with the car or truck parked next to a trailer with parts and tools laying around is just asking to be ripped off, this makes it twice as bad as just being in the way:yup:

I wasn't please w/ the kids and speactators that I seen driving around the pits. Now I will tell on myself if I can I always pay the extra $ to get in so therefore I can park in the pits. The key word is PARK I drove around when I 1st got there talked to TuffGuy racing and Jeff & Aly after that I parked back in the back by the fence. Now I know what I'm doing is not right by any means, but I'm a person w/common sense and know I should park my vehicle where it should go, but at the same time I have discipline on how I should handle myself and kids. They were sitting in the bleachers not in the staging lanes or tech road.
We all need to settle down, because hot tempers never will never the issue. In Denny's defense he has made a lot of changes and if it wasn't for him and Derrick where would be going to race? The trackwas not hooking for some, but for others it was. I really would hate to see TGRCN you stop coming to 41. It would be a shame.
Denny I always give you props for anything you do and have done....... to you continued sucess, but at same time being a owner you have to be willing to indure all the bad times that come w/it. This were is I draw the line. I will forever support 41 and it's events as well TGRCN. just my 20 minutes of typing:D

Denny,
Nobody can deny that the track has improved by leaps and bounds in certain areas, but there still needs to be improvement in the parking department and other areas. IF there were bathrooms in the racers area, maybe you could block off the south 40 and make a walkway on the west side for the spectators to get from the pits to the bleachers.
Another idea would be to have 2 colored wrist bands. Maybe red ones for the racers and their crew members, and blue ones for the spectators who have access to the pits. IMHO, if people want to see the cars up close, walk around the pits and not the staging lanes. The head of staging is a madhouse enough without the extra bodies walking around.
Call me Sunday....

Ok, maybe I shouldn't put my 2cents in, but let me start by saying Denny has put a lot of hard work and effort into 41. It really is not as easy as you guys think (or maybe not) :dunno: Let me point out one thing. As far as the spectators..... with working the gate, I know that I tell people where to park. But that does not mean shit after they get in the gate. They go where they want. As far as the "rent a cops" How many are we supposed to have? Yes, the kids on bikes, 4 wheelers etc was crazy. I do know for a fact that there were a couple of times that I witnessed that the cops did go out into the pits and talk to the people. But once again, the cop leaves and they do what they want. As far as the skating rink for a track, come on guys, how hot was it?? When I got to the track they were watering down the starting line to cool it down to help with the traction. Everyone who knows anything about racing, street or bracket knows that you have to adapt your car to the weather conditions. It was hot. There is only so much that you can do to try and help with the track conditions. Again, as previously stated, there were a lot of street tire cars there and you can only work with the conditions that you have. What I have a hard time understanding is why people, and Im not pointing out anyone specific, but why do people have to be so negitive? Instead of posting something that targets something that someone has worked so hard to make and enjoyable event, why not SUGGEST the issues that you have addresses. I don't know, Im trying to look at it from both sides and it really isn't easy. You know, when you put your everything you can into something to make it the best you can, it's really hard to hear people doing nothing but telling you what you have done wrong, what you need to fix..... what about what you have done for a change. No simple answer i guess. I will say that he has tried to do the best he can with what he has available. I really hope you guys try to look at it from the other point of view. Just my 2 cents.

As far as the kids being all over the place:
Why should anyone have to tell you how to discipline your children? Parents are the ones to blame and the only ones that need to be police'ing their own children.
Track Conditions:
I believe everyone chimed in on the obvious, street tires etc... but not the over exageration proclaimed in the original thread. If that were the case NO ONE would be hooking.

Ok, my turn :) I never really had any major problems yesterday. I know I don't make alot of power but my fwd car was cutting 1.80 60ft's with only 1 tire turning. Not great but not shabby for the power or the lack of a footprint so the track appeared to be hooking for me (especially when the car dead hooked on a 4500rpm clutch drop where it broke my passenger half-shaft in half leaving me looking dumb at the line hehe).
The staging lanes weren't too bad imo but obviously there were stupid people in the pits. My trailer was blocked once by a racer but not by any spectators. I think this problem will be addressed but it may take time to fully fix it, the way things are set up make policing the seperate areas tough.
To the kids and atv vehicles running around, put them in impound :p: or have the cops issue some kind of citations when they do dumb shit.
Oh well, i'm just happy I have a place to go to race, doesn't take much to keep me happy

Im not trying to make anyone mad,but I came in and parked in the grass. There was a couple of women sittin in lawn chairs about 200 ft into the gate. They asked if you were racing or watching, from there you could pretty much do what you wanted:dunno: Maybe spread out a little, have those flashlights with red covers and guide people in.If they try going into the pits kick their ass out:yup: Last year there was people checking for beer, the same thing can be done with bikes. If they want them pic them up after the event.Im not trying to make anyone mad,to me everything can be accomplished very simply.Yes it is street car chaos, but no matter what it comes down to its not the streets its a racing establishment and without order your asking for trouble:yup: I really dont know whats involved with keeping the track hookin, but I do know I saw plenty of 8sec cars leaving hard as hell.Me and PK were talking about how the guys were spraying the vht at the line, this was the first time ive seen them do it at a chaos event:yup: And my hats off to you guys that got the track going after the accident, wasnt long at all:cool:

I don't have a rocket for a car but tell you what, I pull some DAMN good sixty foots there and the car doesn't get loose out any either. Far better then the street so makes me happy. I think SCC and 41 as a whole is great.
Thanks for all those involved, I travel over there just to fill N20 at times, very good prices and good people.
thanks guys.
EDIT: I have to add any one complaining about SCC and its track prep be glad it hooks better then the street.

Jason, the event was not created for "daily drivers" .....matter of fact alot of people out there have forgot what it was actually created for and because of this people have lost sight and it gets crazy! STREET CAR CHAOS was created to give the Street Racers a place to go.....not the pro bracket racers, not the guys who race super gas,No classes,no pay outs(unless you beat someone for cash!)ect, ect!!!And to be honest the "true" street racers are lucky to have Denny prep the track....cause 130th street and others are not prep'd for a super fast street racer car!!!!And the NHRA track nights suck,i hung around one in california to see what NHRA does......they dont let alot of stuff run because its too radical:think: Wow....thats stale!!!And i agree that they should try to weed out the pits alittle better.....but,i think Denny is doing a hell of a job and as long as we remember what CHAOS was designed for.....it will keep going ssstrong!;)

I agree but like I said the majority of the cars are daily drivers with treaded tires so the track will never be in GREAT condition...like you said still a hell of a lot better than the street. I wish it was a lot more street racing & a whole lot less test & tune. But what can you do? limit the passes each car gets, payouts by the track to get some street car races going like they do in Houston. The track takes in a load of money during SCC(do the math) with no payout to the racers, it could happen. looking at it from a bussiness point of veiw the pits & stands are full...why mess with it?

Adding to that drawing, at the gate, split the spectators from the racers if at all possible. I know it will be ard to do at SCC nights because some drive their "racers" to the track (shaddup SPJ).. Also, at the walkway from spectators parking, try to not allow kids and drunk idiots to drive or ride anything from one area to the next. Its a lot better to have drive around a bunch of people walking around.

after they either pay for either spectator or racer then send them to their desired parking. i know some will pay to race and just park closer and get 3 wrist bands. but lets put our heads together and get a solution to the problem

Best thing would be give 2 different colored tickets to put in the dash, if you dont have the proper colored ticket & get caught in the pits you get booted/towed. I dont think this will solve ALL the problems in the pits cause some will pay to park there ect. but will make a huge dent hopefully.

Shit the 12sec or slower cars can park in the grass also.Put a small gate along the road and have someone let them in.If they got slicks maybe let them park in the pits. How much tuning is there to do on those cars:think:If im not working Ill come out and help219-989-0287

you really can't solve that.
bottom line
with 300+ cars how are you gonna remember who races and who don't
but i think thats not a problem if someone wants to pay the extra money to park closer then let them. just threaten to tow them if they are parked in someones pit area or in front of their trailor.

If you have cars that come in and say that they wanna race then they have to tech in.........I would make up flyers reading something like "IF YOU COME HERE AND YOU SAY THAT ARE GONNA RACE YOUR CAR WILL HAVE TO BE TECH CHECKING FOR TECH NUMBERS. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY TECH NUMBERS IN YOUR WINDOW YOUR CAR WILL BE TOWED AT YOUR EXPENSE" and have them sign it with proof on their drivers license. It may take a little longer but it would be well worth it.......Those are the rules and tuff for those who don't want to follow them. I want volunteer my time to, but not this weekend, because of baby bros. wedding.

Thats going to be hard to enforce if they pay the money, 10-30 cars parking in the pits wont be a major problem...much better than we have now.
We wont solve all the problems. If you want a good pit spot you might just have to come early, I know it sucks I live 100miles from the track & normally leave about 3:30pm.

we can give a section for trailored cars and the further section for the street driven racers to park this way there is no confusion. if your srteet driven car is not in the designated pitting area then your shit will be towed somewhere in that general area in whitch it belongs you go find it LOL

I agree I think we have went overboard. Lots of good ideas but just not enforceable easily. Lets get the fence up,seperate the race cars from the spectators & go from there. Wont solve 100% of the problems but should help.

Its a Fucking Drag Strip people,If you don't like the way SCC is handled go to one of the test & tune nights or Sundays.Thats when I would rather go.
Damn I remember before 41 was built & all the guys would say "I wish we had a drag strip to go to"..Then the track was built & people liked it pretty much,It wasn't the best but it had potential. Then Changed owners(Family Members) & went down hill but I will say that Denny made do with what he had at his disposal & put on a event that pretty much kept 41 open. Then Papa Norm passed & it changed owners again(Family Members,Big Fucking Family !!!) Then Denny's input was taken seriously & the money gates opened alittle bit & improvements were made.Compared to how it was looking in the late nineties HUGE improvements were made.I think Denny & all the people who gave up there free time to help him have done a pretty good job.Magor Props..........
I myself 100% Agree that kids on bikes,ATV's & people selling shoes (WTF was that about ????) need to be delt with .
As far as the track conditions go,well, there is not much you can do about it in that type of weather. We have all seen how the big end can get for SOME cars on a 70 degree night with the dew & all.Now make it a 90 + degree day with humidity sky rocketing after the Sun goes down & you WILL have many cars getting loose at the big end.I don't think any track prep in the world is going to help in that situation.Only thing I can think of in cases like this is to run 1/8th mile track time.I know people are going to bitch about that idea but its better then not running at all.
I think the deleting of the first post about this was a-bit harsh but then again I don't run this show.Running a track is a business & with all businesses you are going to hear 90% more bad things then good.
Its all part of the package deal.Maybe the problem is that this track is Denny's baby & he doesn't like to hear the bad things that are said ,I can understand that but, thats how business goes.It seems as though in this case there were some real problems that need to be addressed & instead of talking about the issuses it was just trashed.I think that stinks but, (No pun intended)what are you gonna do.Is it a case where denny just wants to make money off this deal now & just doesn't care about the racers or is it a TOTAL LACK OF COMMUNICATION ???
I would hope that it is just the latter of the two.
Calm down ,listen & learn something.(Hopefully)

Denny and myself had a long phone conversation late saturday night and both agreed to delete some of the later posts by me and him as well as another thread I started and he responded to. This way definately going in the wrong direction. This thread was left up because it was/is going in the right direction.
In the first Tuffguy2 post and my first reply, I will be the first to admit that the quality of the track should have been the LAST thing on the list of issues. On the positive side, Denny now sees that the other issures are of major concern to most that attend the SCC events as well as any other.
The fence idea is a great one. Sure if you pay for a tech card, you get a pit spot, and there isnt anything anyone can do about that but if having the fence and some organization eliminates 50% of the spectator cars in the pits it will be a major improvement. As for the kids driving any type of vehicles, have one person police this on Denny's golf cart, stop the kids and if they dont have a drivers licence, throw them and the whole party they came in with out. Maybe hand everyone that enters the gate a flyer with the "new" rules clearly printed.
Denny stands firm on the issue of allowing anyone to pay $5 to pay for a wristband to get into the staging lanes and I am totally against that, but it's his deal and his choice. If enough people dislike the idea, maybe he could do a poll thread and let the racers vote on it . Either way it's his choice.
Like I said before, I have never directly bashed Denny or 41 as a whole, I was just venting my opinon. Things could have been worded a little differently, but it got the point across. There was definately a lack of communication ! There have been major improvements at 41 in the last year or so and everyone on this board have applauded Denny, Derrick and the people who devote their time to 41. Everyone wants to see 41 continue improve and these are steps to do so.
I have decided to devote my future Friday nights to drinking beer, whether it be at a bar, in the garage, or spectating at SCC (parked in the field w/ the other spectator cars). And if I lose my shoes, hopefully I can no longer buy any at 41.
I have always and will continue to support 41 as a place to race.
