I had one years ago..I had a problem with the float sticking & it would surge, load up & sometimes stick so bad it would overflow at idle...had to shim it between float hinge & bowl & never had the problem again.

Need a little more info. When does it surge? Did you pull a plug to see if it sooted up? Does it have a power valve? if so, what's your vacuum, and power valve size? Did you check the floats? :dunno:
More Info Needed!!!:yup:

The floats seem to be working ok No power valves and It surges almost all the time, when its not surging its revving at about 2500rpm or its stalling out

Oh yeah and the plugs look to be almost still new and untouched when I pulled them Motor sounds like its runnning lean but has no vacumn leaks.

Yeah we need more information.....
What is the CID of the motor?
What is the cam lift and duration at .050?
What size are the valves?
What is the rocker ratio?
What is the compression Ratio?
What did the heads flow at 28"?
Are the heads angle milled?
Who is the manufacture of the heads?
Ken can you think of anything else we need to ask him while he is not paying attention?......

  i ran one and didn't have any problems like you described, but if you have narrowed it down to the carb .. what i would do if it were mine is find out the factory specs/settings, go through the carb and start from scratch accordingly,
OR, if you can use your old carb (if ya still got it ) swap it and see if it still does it
You sure you don't have a vacuum leak anywhere??

I had many problems with mine...ran good after I worked on my NEW carb. Barry Grants customer service SUCKS. If you ever ask them a tech question its NEVER their fault.

I would pull the carb, broke it down, and check and clean all the passages & needles. Once you it's back together, turn the carb over check & set the idle slot (throttle blades), and adjust the 4 corner idle screws out 1 1/2 turns. once it's fired up, adjust the float level to a low level (you can aways go back and change it) if it's still surging, try screwing in your 4 corner idle screw, it should die out from lack of fuel, if not you're getting too much fuel.
When I asked about your vacuum, I was talking about you manifold vacuum.
And you said it seems to be running lean, So that means you're not getting a lot of unburn fuel at idle. you may just need to screw out on the 4 corner idle screws. But I still would Break down the carb and clean it. :yup:
I hope this helps!!! :yup: If not I have a old style 1050 dominator (8896-1) you can buy. I ran it on my car. I took it off to make my HP 1050 work. Neednes to say, I'm still workin on it!!! As you can see. :(

well there ya go! you should have figured something, cause water and carbs don't mix:nono: now next time motor is down, don't use your parts to prop up the float in your toilet bowl so the tank will fill up with water!!!!!!!!!!!

it all depends on the cubic inches, what size is your motor? you may be able to jet it down if just a little too big....look at it like this, i had an 850 carb on my 355 small block(yes chevy) and it ran with no problems

Well it depends I think also on how big the camshaft is and the amount of compression. I know guys that have 331 cid motors with 1050cfm Dominators 16.1 comp:scared: High Dollar High Revving SOB's:yup: I aint got that :nono:

yes, i guess i shouldn't have put it depends on how many cubic inches, cause it does have alot to do with alot of things, size, head flow, cam profile, how big of valves etc...all i can say is...try it:yup: you got a jet kit?oh what size is the motor again....i didn't catch it the first time:eek:

Man that shit was everywhere even the bowls, float and metering blocks were all covered and corroded. I soaked all that stuff in a carb solution for about 36 hours. Blew through every air and fuel passage with air. I put it back together it seems to run ok good throttle response it idles at about 1100rpm, but I need some help adjusting this thing :yup: I gotta hold my foot to the floor to start it up:pissed:
