Hello once again! I had the misfortune of bust'n my trans and spray'n tranny fluid the entire lenght of the track. (Sorry Denny) Upon Inspection the next morning, I found that it had blown off a cap just in front of the speedo gear. This cap is held by a spring clip of some sort. Inside there is some damm peice that spins off the tailshaft that I have no damm Idea what it does. I took the same cap off another t-350 I have (with a transbrake) and there was nothing there behind the cap. So here's my question.. Do I really need the part at all? I shift manually anyway! If I dont need it I'm in good shape for a fast repair and about 3 day's of wiping the entire bottom of the Nova up!

Any help? :dunno:

The cap you speak of is the governer cover and that is the governer inside. The governer tells the trans when to shift under normal auto driving conditions. If you have a manual valve body in the trans that should have already been removed but if not I am not sure you can remove the governer. If you have a trans with a brake in it just swap out trans' and run the one with the trans brake.

As far as removing the governer I would call a race trans shop and ask them. As for the cap mine is just siliconed in with no clip.
