do you run a rocker girdle or shaft mount rockers?
what about storage?
back the rockers off so it don't damage the springs or do you fire the car up every so often?
thanks

shaft rockers..... even though I used to run a girdle on other motors..... You should back the rockers off for storage... I go roll the engine over every week or so.... Just lazy I guess....
I check lash after every outing....

run a solid, you'll make more power, i ran one in my other motor as well as this one will have....i just left the lash set and started it up every so often, or you can back the rockers off if you feel like it, either way it has to be done if you dont want your springs prematurely wearing out:yup:

do see any differance in running shafts over a stud mounted rocker with a girdle?

who did you guys choose to get your cams from?my cam was off the shelf, i used a crane cam, some people dont like crane, but i feel they are better cams than comp cams(this is my opinion tho)they do make better roller lifters, i had a comp roller lifter fail on me and changed to crane and they held up under the same set up....
doug herbert is doing a custom and i'm considering his lifters.
thats if i decide to make the change.
just got to make sure it works with my turbo/engine combo

If your gonna drive it alot I would go with a hydraulic roller. You can make alot of hp with them also.NMRA real street guys are using STOCK cams running 9.80's with an adder.Solids are definately better for hp but are not good at idle for longer periods of time, thus more maintance.Just my .02:cool:

I'd never run anything else.... No real break-in, and they wont go flat on you like hyd. one's will. I just keep an eye on lash unless your gonna run less than .600, then it's not really a big deal. I run a .575 so it never has any adjustments needed even though I do check it once a month or so. I have a Herbert cam and lifters now, and love it. I drive it about 400 miles a year on the street, and the idle is great. I have no issues what so ever.

I also had herbert grind me a solid roller when I had my old car. Ran a girdle. 615 lift and 255 duration at .050. Check the lash every so often and you're all good! I drove my car EVERYWHERE. In traffic, on the highway. Even to and from the track. No problems.
thanks guys.
gmc you must be running some nasty spring pressure

I heard everything that comes from the House of Power has a 1 Inch Shaft in it:scared: No Pun intended PK:f:
Only advice i have is to consult the cam manufacturer on the valve spring specs. its not necessarialy acceptable to just have a spring that meets your lift numbers. there is a harmonics issue. (yes i learned this the hard way) so keep it in mind. and install height and seat pressure are also equally important.
